These Screenprint experiments were a response to my daughters painting. I was curious to see whether I could achieve any of the qualities of a watercolour painting using screenprinted layers. While the colours and transparency were a concern, the biggest challenge was authentically replicating the gesture and image of the original. Keeping the tonal subtleties while identifying and creating the layer separations meant experimenting with Photoshop. It was necessary to digitally separate the colour layers and to interpret which tones were native to a colour layer and which were produced through mixing. Tonal subtleties were retained through the use of bitmap and each layer was given its own quality through the selection of bitmap style.
